Greeters are the first experience of the St Francis Xavier Parish to all who come to mass. Be it visitors or parish members, these men and women help provide a welcoming experience to those who walk through our doors. They are prompt, pass out needed information, and help to maintain the order of the church before and after each liturgical event. They assist and help coordinate with a few elements in the liturgy. If you would like to consider assisting the parish by being the first experience of the parish, please contact the parish office and ask to speak with Ann Buebel.

About The Church

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church

The beginnings of the Church in this area of coastal Georgia date back some four hundred years, long before Oglethorpe established himself at Frederica. From 1566-1742 Spanish missionaries labored, suffered, and were martyred in this locality for the cause of the faith. In 1791 the island of Jekyll was purchased by the du Bignon family. From time to time the head of this family arranged to have a visiting priest celebrate Mass for his family and his slaves.
