"Honoring Life From Beginning to End And All Life’s Steps in Between"

The mission of this ministry is for every person to have an appreciation of life --- from conception to natural death. The ministry supports “CareNet” in its efforts to help unborn and newborn babies; sponsors an annual essay contest for 6th, 7th and 8th grade children on the subject of life; and works with other groups and organizations in various ways in the support of life. If you are interested in joining this ministry, please contact Rose Lodise at (912) 264-4121.

About The Church

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church

The beginnings of the Church in this area of coastal Georgia date back some four hundred years, long before Oglethorpe established himself at Frederica. From 1566-1742 Spanish missionaries labored, suffered, and were martyred in this locality for the cause of the faith. In 1791 the island of Jekyll was purchased by the du Bignon family. From time to time the head of this family arranged to have a visiting priest celebrate Mass for his family and his slaves.
